I'm very confused on why the author put these specific poems together. They don't relate to each other at all. Also there is only one poem about popcorn in this collection of books. Some of the poems were very short and some were longer. Each poem described the item or thing it was talking about in great detail. The poem also provided the reader with a vivid description of what was happening to the item or thing in the poem. I just didn't like how only one poem in the book was related to the title. I also didn't like that most of the poems didn't relate to each other. There were a couple of poems in the book that talked about a dog named Chelsea, but besides that none of the other poems were related. This prevented the book from flowing and therefore doesn't allow for the reader to connect with it. ( ) This is another poetry book by James Stevenson. I really love his illustrations. I also love how each poem is different, some have big words, some have pictures, each poem is unique. There is a poem about a dog, who has passed away. Not going to lie, I did tear up. Look at that…even short poetry books make me cry. This book is all over the place, in a good way. It switches up on the fonts it uses and you never know what kind of illustration to expect on the next page. It has a lot of onomatopoeia usage that can give the reader great amounts of imagery. It would make for a good lesson on rhyming and different poetry verses. This book tells no story but instead is a collection of very short and interesting poems. While this was still a good book of poems, I did not enjoy this book as much as I did of another one of James Stevenson’s books, Cornflakes. Popcorn seemed to be the same theme of poems about mere everyday observations however this book was much more mature and almost darker then his other books. The poems seemed to overall deal with less colorful and creative topics. Overall I still think this was an interesting book and would be great for a classroom of students to read, explore and discuss. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
