They say one action doesn't define you. I killed a man. Stabbed him in the neck and licked the blood off my lips after I did it. Still, one action doesn't define you. I could have called anyone. My father, the Prez of The Fallen MC, our family lawyer, my best friend, Lila, or my brother, King. I didn't. Instead, I called Lionel Danner, the police officer renowned for taking down the Nightstalkers MC. The man who had been my father's arch nemesis for decades. The man who hated everything I stood for. A man who had disappeared from my life without explanation three years ago. I called him. And maybe one action doesn't define you, but killing a bad man and calling in the good changed my life and it sure as hell changed his. The third book in the Fallen Men series. A standalone featuring Harleigh Rose and Officer Lionel Danner.… (plus d'informations)

I got into this series with the second book, Zeus and LouLou's story. It was during that story that I fell in love with Harleigh Rose and I couldn't wait to read her story. Well, my wait was more than amply repaid. I love her and Lionel's story.

Harleigh Rose is a BAMF MC Princess. She's Zeus Garro's daughter and his MC has loved her since she was born. Now, as an adult, she's been in a relationship with a man from another MC, only this club isn't very nice, and her boyfriend has been abusing her, so when it gets worse, she does the only thing she can. She kills him. Instead of calling her dad for help, she calls her Lion.

Lionel is a cop who is 10 years older than his Rosie, but he has always been there for her. When she calls him and says Lion I did something wrong, he will drop everything in order to be there for her.

I love that HR is strong and fierce, even though she's just been through a nightmare. I love her family, even when they have the absolutely wrong idea about what's going on. She needs a man who can stand toe to toe with her and give her all the support and love she needs, and it sure appears that Lionel is that guy. He's kind of jerky, sometimes, but he so obviously loves Harleigh Rose and is so protective over her and has been her entire life.

I think that Lion and Rosie are a great addition to the rest of the family. ( )

This was a shame for me as I wasn't able to connect with HR or Danner. I was so tired of everything having to revolve around her. That Danner had to go to the dark side to be with her. Eh... didnt like her wanna be badassery.

I know she had a hard life and felt terrible for her up bringing until Dad came back into the picture...but her, it's all about me...show me the attention was really boring for me.

Look at King her polar opposite...he turned out fine and she acts like an annoying spoiled brat. It made this book difficult for me to read...I kept rolling my eyes at her.

Saying this so much but she is so damn annoying that it is affecting my over all review of this story...it's almost as if the author didnt know what to write so she dragged scenes out making it frustrating to want to finish this story.

Now about Danner...yea hard for me to connect with a guy who supposed to love a woman for years but is dating 2 others on the side. A cop and a biker chick. Ok, I can get behind the biker chick cause of the under cover stuff, but a cop as well...seriously. yeah nope...not behind him at all at this point. And on top of all this, HR is ok with him having both...wow...no self esteem. Nope...wouldn't be with him sexually until he dumps the two broads myself. I sure as hell dont share. Funny how Danner in the other two books was a strong character that I was beginning to like.

Really trying not to DNF cause I want to know who is threatening her and who is helping who at this point since it was confusing to keep track of through out the book

The flashbacks really didn't do it for me...I understand the author was trying to show the history of the couple but some of them were just unnecessary in my opinion and really dragged it out. Some could have been dropped and added to the suspenseful parts of the story. I even skipped one here or there and still understood what was happening like it should never have been added.

Towards the end it got interesting but this was just an eh read for me. ( )

This book was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. There was a reason for it. It lived up to the hype. There was just something about the cop and the MC Princess that called to me. How does one find love when society depicts one as morally good and the other morally bankrupt? Well this author walked the fine line and did it.

The characters I came to love from the first series were back in addition to finally getting the story about HE and Danner. This was a love story of epic proportions. EPIC. Danner loved his Rosie and wasn't afraid of her thorns. Rosie loved this beautiful man even more than the men who were family. Yet, there were obstacles in there way. So many obstacles.

The author did a great job depicting this lifestyle and the dangers that come with it. More importantly, she showed that the rose is able to the symbol of love and beauty because of its thorns because without them they couldn't stand up to the elements. This love most assuredly loved up to the elements and has me begging for more of these beautiful people.

That ending though.../status update dead. ( )

Because I read the first two books, I decided I needed to go ahead and continue with the series. I really didn't care for the first one and the second was better in my opinion. This book started out ok. I thought it was similar to Zeus' book - age gap (but not as large), connection between the characters when the girl was very young, etc. The book started to lose me with the flashbacks. There is one in which HR is 6 and he is 16 and the way she interacts is just so unbelievable to me. Even with the life they lived and having to grow up early, I can't see a 6 year old talking like she did. I did find it interesting that she met Lionel on the same day as another very important event from a previous book happens.

Another thing that didn't seem to make sense for me was how Lionel could go undercover so close to where he had been a cop out in the open. I don't know how he got by without being recognized for 3 years. And how could he have been undercover in the same MC that she was also a part of because of her relationship with Cricket? Wouldn't they have crossed paths at some point?

I didn't think that Lionel's character as a young man made sense with his character in this book. He seemed to have changed way too much. I don't think he needed to be so "good gone bad" in order to get the girl. I actually thought Wrath could have been a good partner for HR. I was kind of disappointed that we didn't find out what really happened to him at the end of the book and I didn't like how things went with Hero.

I think I will try another book from this author if she does a story about Wrath, but I don't think I'll continue otherwise. Time will tell. I know that there are MANY who love this book so if you are reading this and want to read it go ahead, but two stars for me. ( )
