When I finished one in the series, I found I couldn’t get to the next one quick enough. These books had a fantastic original storyline, I mean how often would you find the woman protagonist in the relationship being the serial killer dating an FBI agent! This series had twists, humour, dark moments and well sex, can’t leave that out. I laughed out loud literally and held my breath several times. I am quite sure that I will absolutely revisit this series in the future. *Note* while reading this series I was very saddened to learn that the author had passed just this past summer from injuries due to a car accident. My thoughts and prayers go out her her family and friends. ( ) Blurb from the cover: Hush, little baby, don't say a word... Will Logan choose them? Or will we watch them burn together? It's time to fuck with their minds. It's time to finish it all. It's time to paint it all red... Monsters don't usually wish for happily-ever-afters. My review: Ok, this series required me to pause from reading for a bit and reflect. I feel as though I was on an emotional ride the whole time and neglected a lot to finish it as fast as I could. Before I get to the ending, I have to say, the action in this book was AMAZING! And while I am normally a sucker for a book that does a great job at switching off POVs, this book took it to a new level. Watching what was going on with Lana through Logan's eyes, knowing he was too far away to do anything??? **Chef Kiss**. Also, the twist towards the end on who was the catalyst for all of this... well done! Did NOT see that coming, but yet it was there all along for us to see. Bravo! Now, as for the ending... I do feel a little cheated. It could be that I wanted more, but the ending just didn't feel right to me. You mean to tell me she didn't crack, and that this was all revenge, but yet she still needs to kill once a year? It goes against all that was being portrayed... Just left me a bit confused. That being said, I do love the anniversary gifts haha. And as for Hadley and Jake. Love it. All of it. The ending may have brought down the review of this individual book, but the series as a whole, I am still in shock. I wish I could read it again for the first time now... and I just finished it. I want to get back on that ride. Well done S.T. Abby. Now give us more!! I am very late on my review for this book. Yet I think this is one of my favorite buddy reads with my girls but then again we do love our WTF kind of books so these were my feelings when I finished. I question my sanity right now because I feel like I should not have loved this book as much as I did. But I seriously dare anyone to read this and not be blown away. This was a dark thriller that had me on the edge of my seat. Our main character Lana was so badass. I love empowered female characters. Lana's plot for revenge was so well organized and there were so many layers to the plan that unraveled at different points of the story. Seriously this series was so well written. Lana was actually quite a likeable character. Again, here I question my sanity because I felt like I could relate to her despite her seriously twisted actions. I will say I wish I had more Jake time. Now beware, this book is dark and it is very graphic. If blood and gore make you queasy this book is not for you! But if you liked the show Revenge you will love this! And yes there is romance in this story! Yes, there is a HEA! I doubted our lovers would have their happy ending but the author pulled it off quite well and what an amazing epilogue! This series was absolutely amazing. So unique! It's one of these series that you stay up all night reading even though you have work in the morning. I really will have to look into more by this author. Apparently, she is just fixed by torturing a guy to death once a year and that's the conclusion? Problem solved. No trauma, no PTSD, no struggle to readjust to a normal life. Morality is solved, hurray. HEA. It's just a way too neat ending to such a dark story. I wouldn't have minded her just dying in the fire for a bitter and pensive ending. But even with her surviving, I was hoping for a more ambiguous ending. Something that would leave more room for moral questions, how everyone has to find and choose their own path. Something thoughtful. The way this ended cheapened the moral dilemma for me somehow. As if all the pain and suffering were in the story mainly as bait. But to be honest, I should have expected this type of ending as it is very typical for this author and I am not that disappointed really. I have a book hangover....that was one wild ride! I can honestly say I was actually surprised with who the original killer was! I was happy with the ending for Lana/Logan and Hadley/Jake. The romance part was really good in all the books and shared time well with the killing parts. Well done S.T. Abby! aucune critique | ajouter une critique
