This book tells the story of Piper, a dog who desperately wants to be a good boy. When Piper is young, his mother tells him to always obey his master, always look both ways before crossing the street, and always help others in danger. Piper's first master, however, is cruel and mistreats Piper when he doesn't chase away the rabbits in his field. Piper eventually runs away and is able to save an old lady from being hit by a car. She later takes him in and they care for each other. ( )

There's a sweetness to this book that is hard to resist, and why should you want to? It's sort of picture book-Dickensian. Piper is a good dog who, unfortunately, gets a bad human. Piper tries to obey Mr. Jones, but things do not work out and Piper runs away, has adventures, and ends up with a wonderful woman who loves him. This book goes over well with pre-schoolers up to around 3rd grade. Piper is about a dog named Piper who was told by it's mother to always obey his master, help anyone in danger, and look bother ways before crossing the street. One day, Piper goes to live with a new owner and he was horrible so Piper escaped. Many unfortunate events happen along the way. When crossing the streets of the city, he saved a women from being hit by a car then ran away. Everyone searched for the hero dog and when they found Piper they brought him to the old women he saved. She said she would love for Piper to live with her but she must post Found Dog signs and see if the owner claims him. The mean owner called and said he didn't want Piper because he didn't listen and now Piper can live happily with the lady he saved. This story shows that things always work out in the end. If you are not liking the way things are going, then change it. Also, sometimes it's hard to do what you are told if you feel it isn't right. The illustrations in the story are done very well. I think children would love this story. They would definitely want to help Piper find a great home. ( )

This is a book about a dog. The dog goes to live with a man when he is old enough to leave his mom, but the man isn't nice, and wants the dog to kill rabbits. The dogs mom had told him to be good, and he was good to the rabbits. After the man threatened the dog, he ran away. He came across the city, and saved a woman from being hit by a car. The dog was hurt, but people searched for the hero dog, and he went to live a happy life with the woman. This book had great illustrations made with warm colors. I liked this book, because it teaches a lesson to always do good things, and in return good things will happen to you. Sometimes it can be hard to do what's right, if you are told to do something different. This would be a good book for primary school kids, probably k-3.

Realistic fiction, it is about a dog who's mom told him to always obey his master and to help anyone in danger. Piper was the name of the dog and he did just what his mom told him. His first owner wanted Piper to chase away the rabbits but instead Piper made them friends and the owner got really mad. He locked him in the shed with out food. Piper ran away and found himself in the city. Once in the city he saved an old women from getting hit by a car. Now Piper and the lady live together looking after each other.
