In this short story the author, William Meike, channels famed author Bram Stoker as he tells his new tale at the gathering of an author’s club in London during the 19th century. And by channeling this author, Mr. Meike, attempts to capture all aspect Stoker’s writing style, from the structure/voice of story’s narrative to that of the characters, and seems to handle the mimicry quite well. Mr. Meike uses this free Amazon download to serve as an example of his writing skills by channeling 14 famous authors in his book entitled “The Ghost Club: Newly Found Tales of Victorian Terror,” which, if I have the time I would consider purchasing a copy myself; and for having given me this opportunity I’ve given this short story 4 STARS. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

In the House of the Dead is Bram Stoker’s lost story. A restrained and brooding tale addressing the hinterland between life and death. The slow creep creates a lush Gothic atmosphere. Meikle has a decent stab at evoking the steady dread of Stoker’s writings. ( )
