The book I read was about the largest allied amphibious invasion in history, which took place on June 6th, 1944. D-Day (by Conrad Stein) started by describing a paratrooper invasion in Cean, France, then went on to describe Field marshal Edwin Rommel's preparations of the "Atlantic Wall" or the cliffs on the coast of Normandy. Next the book talks about the allied landing, and how the 4th infantry division landed a mile from Utah beach. Then they marched around to meet with the British paratroopers. D-Day was a major turning point in world war two, from that point in the war, came a series of allied victories that ultimately led to pushing the Germans out of France. Allied forces had to cross the English Channel in the midst of a ferocious storm, and eight foot waves that tossed the landing craft like toy boats in a bathtub. I think this book earns a four star review.

I think that D-Day (by Conrad Stein,) was an excellent read. I liked this book because it was interesting, I have always been interested in world war two.This book has earned a four star review because it went over something I already knew, and gave me facts that I didn't know. For example, I didn't know that the first part of the operation was carried out in gliders, or that they where trying to capture bridges, or that June the sixth was the german field marshal at the time, Erwin Rommel's wife's birthday.
