I don’t know how these types of nooks are classified
Are they chick lit, women’s beach books or just fiction, but this was an entertaining book, and a great story, about second chances, family and loneliness.
I will definitely read others from this author. ( )

Enjoyed the setting of beach life on the coast, the over-the-top parties and decorated beauty salon, the humor among friends, the realization that friendship is so important and her look at sex at a later time in life. I respected her idea of marrying her gay friend to create a family with her rape pregnancy. Disagreed that her college daughter was still not told about it yet. Got the humor of seeing her Dad getting involved but it creates that continuing of older man and a younger lady lover. The stories Miss Mavis had were too short. ( )

There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this book. However, I felt the entire date-rape and resulting pregnancy scenario was dealt with way to casually; and the ending relating to that part of the story made me want to throw the book across the room.

I'll definitely be giving her other books a try, but I hope they handle sensitive, serious topics in a slightly better fashion. Or just leave out the serious stuff altogether, to make it a perfect beach read. ( )

The characters in this Lowcountry novel reminded me of the characters in Sullivan's Island. Where they give you feeling of being just slightly over the top. The story was better though. There was more substance to it and the storyline was a little more interesting, even if I didn't like the cast. ( )

Regional fiction set on the South Carolina coastline. Tells of the lives and loves of the people who live there. Light, entertaining, well-crafted novel.
