( ) The Wit of Oscar Wilde is ok. It is a compilation of sayings from his works and conversations. It is a decent book only because it encouraged me to read some of his original writings. Beyond that, it's simply a book of witty, disjointed and sometimes contradictive statements about love, marriage, money. I gather from it that Wilde was a not a happy person. His Portrait of Dorian Gray didn't exactly paint the picture of a comfortable, well-adjusted author. It's a good source for figuring out which of his works I want to read, e.g., An Ideal Husband etc.. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

'I can resist everything except temptation' Oscar Wilde is probably the most quoted and quotable man in history. His genius manifested itself in his plays and poetry but he is equally famous for his penetrating wit, humour and brilliant repartee. Wilde boasted that he could talk spontaneously on any subject, a claim borne out by the range and scope of the examples in this collection. Containing hundreds of profound, profane and humorous quotations from Oscar Wilde on a range of subjects, this fantastic selection A delightful and entertaining book which illuminates a personality unlikely ever to be forgotten.
