I actually really enjoyed this book. I think it was a great story line and can be very appealing to younger and older kids. I really liked the illustration style. The book was published in 1974 so the illustrations are primarily brown and white sketches. The book can be for any age in elementary school. ( )

I would recommend this book for students at a beginner or intermediate level. This book is about a boy who goes to a fancy dinner with his family. There is a frog that is jumping around the restaurant in a humorous way until it gets caught and is almost thrown out until the boy claims the frog as his own and he has a new pet. I would love to have this book in my classroom and constantly ask my students what they believe is going to happen from page to page. ( )

Wordless book! I've got a grandkid falling behind in reading. I found all of Mercer Mayer's books online at Internet Archive on 8/26/2023. I would have purchased some on Amazon or Thriftbooks.com, or anywhere else, but, I actually need books with WORDS. I can't really rate this kind of book.

A frog sneaks into a little boys coat pocket. The family goes out to a fancy dinner and the frog jumps out of the books pocket. The frog jumps into a musical instrument and then jumps into someones plate and then another customers drink. The manager captures the frog and is going to throw the frog outside. The little boy speaks up and claims the frog. The family gets thrown out of the restaurant. When the boy gets home he gets sent to his bedroom with his frog.
This is an example of contemporary realistic because a frog could get in a restaurant and cause a ruckus.
