Sir Avelin 'Vin' Reese is a cricketing legend, knighted for his stellar career as a batsman extraordinaire, playing for England. The sport of international cricket saw him travelling around the world making his name in the sport and becoming an international cricketing star. Vin, British-born of West Indian/Vincentian parentage and his beautiful wife, Olivia, originally from Trinidad, are long-time residents of Holland Park, London. They have been married for over twenty five years with two twenty-something year old children.Vin still travels a lot as an international businessman and with his job as a UK Special Envoy. Olivia teaches at a London college. Over the years she has struggled with accepting a life in the limelight as the girlfriend, then wife of a handsome, rich and famous cricketer. Her husband's cricketing prowess and good looks have resulted in a huge worldwide fan base including many adoring female fans, some of whom could be rather aggressive. But that's all behind them, surely? The couple's focus is now on planning an early retirement, hoping to spend more quality time together and getting more involved in fun-loving activities-which definitely do not include murder.A friend and neighbor at nearby Notting Hill, dies under suspicious circumstances. Is it an accident or murder? The victim was a well-known flirt, and also regarded by many as an "insensitive" and "secretive" person. Is the victim's husband having an affair with his late wife's young and sexy-looking personal assistant/helper? And what about those friends and neighbors of hers who share the communal garden? Suddenly, everyone in the victim's social circle is a suspect.Vin's best friend, DI James Bale brings him on board the investigation, which further complicates matters. For Sir Vin and Lady Reese, their friend's death raises issues about their relationship-past and present-especially in the area of trust. In the course of this murder inquiry they must take a hard look at themselves and even closer into the heart of a killer.… (plus d'informations)
