A little better than recent books. Stone befriends/beds a young woman entrepreneur, who has sold her self-driving car business. A disgruntled former employee is alternatively trying to kill her or extort her by causing the software to fail. Shoot First is a story that keeps its pace from beginning to end. The characters are placed in situations that are believable. How they get out of each circumstance requires a bit of stretch. It pays to be Stone Barrington who has unlimited resources and close friends in high places. The book is recommended if the reader needs to worry about someone else's problems. ( )
