Dahlia is a pretty strong shifter. She's gone through some challenging stuff in her life and here comes this crap that is leading her back to home. She is facing the challenge head on. With a supporting cast of characters, Dahlia is a well-developed character. Though a shifter, it is easy to empathize with her because some of her personality is easy to see in yourself. Her supporting case helps to keep the story moving without chop. The action keeps you glued to the pages. I found myself not really wanting to put the book down to sleep. It was engaging and kept you wanted to find out what was coming up next. Loved the ending. Highly recommend. ( )

I’ve been looking for my next serial obsession, and I think I just found it! Nite Fire: Flash Point took me on a roller coaster ride through a new world and mystery. Dahlia Nite, hiding from her own race, now lives in the human world as a protector of sorts. A new murder has her attention, providing pieces to a puzzle Dahlia never saw coming, and brings up even more questions that she had never ventured to ask. As the world of this new series begins to take shape and readers are drawn deeper into the life of Dahlia Nite, you’ll be led deep into the mystery surrounding and threatening the existence of more than just one race. Nite Fire: Flash Point will take you down the rabbit hole and out the other side to what I’m hoping will be a just as exciting and riveting ride into the next book. ( )

Thank you to Blackthorn Book Tours and C.L. Schneider for providing me a copy of Flash Point for an honest book review and including me in the book tour!

Dahlia Nite grew up brainwashed into believing she should follow The Guild of Dragons’ orders no matter the cost. As a half dragon half human lyrriken, she was taught that she owed her existence to the elder dragons. But the night her powers of empathy awakened, her beliefs began to change. In the middle of a kill order, she hesitated to kill a child. Her insubordination sentenced her to death. But Dahlia escaped her world, sliding into a portal destined for the human realm. Now she hides in plain sight, taking jobs and protecting the humans from creatures they have no idea exist.

Very rarely do I see dragons brought into urban fantasy. But C. L. Schneider did the perfect job incorporating high fantasy elements into an urban fantasy world. The dragons weren’t just another supernatural creature. They had an entire civilization built into the story that coincided with the modern day world. And what affected one world would inevitably snowball into affecting the other.

But not only was the world-building seamless, the main character Dahlia drove the story forward with a vengeance. Dahlia is a tough as nails half dragon that refuses to back down and be forced into anything. As a result of this, the entirety of Flash Point was filled to the brim with action. And I loved the element of tension as Dahlia tried to hide the work of supernatural creatures in an ever-evolving world of technology. Not to mention the revenge driven plot that brought to light just how far the dragons will go to protect their existence. Every piece of this book was fast-paced and conflict driven. I loved every minute of it!

There is so much left to be told about this world C.L. Schneider unveiled. I can’t wait to read the next book and dive into the political schemes of the dragon world. Because there is certainly something brewing on the horizon, and Flash Point gives you just enough information to leave you wanting more.

Nite Fire: Flash Point by C.L. Schneider is an incredible paranormal and urban fantasy story that will leave readers craving more. The story follows Dahlia Nite, a hybrid dragon and shapeshifting assassin with a drive for protecting the innocent. She was a committed and dedicated executioner, in her original world of Drimera, until her position was taken from her and she was sentenced to be executed herself. Now, she lives among the humans, protecting them from the creatures and evils of the unseen world, while concealing the truth of her origin and the creatures therein. The city she has come to love, Sentinel City, has come under attack in the form of gruesome murders. As an arson investigator, she is helping to solve the crimes, all the while hiding the truth that these brutal attacks are coming from her own kind and world, a reality that humans should never know about. However, as the serial murders progress, she is beginning to feel the need to take further action and return home, to a place she never wanted or should return to.

Nite Fire: Flash Point is a gripping novel filled with the paranormal, mystery, dragons, shape shifters, danger and all kinds of fascinating and horrendous creatures. The world building is awesome, while the witty dialog and descriptions held me completely intrigued and engaged. The writing style is unique and drew me in from the very first chapter and held my interest onward to the final page. This is one of the best urban fantasy books that I have ever read. I couldn’t put it down and turned the pages quickly in excitement and intensity. It is fast paced and completely engaging.

The characters are wonderful. The heroine, Dahlia, is strong, likable, fierce and compassionate. The secondary characters are as good, or better, than the main ones. I loved everything about this novel and the complex world that C.L. Schneider has created. The storyline and plot are well thought out, intriguing and extremely well written. It is easy to understand and flows nicely, giving readers everything they need for a great read in the urban fantasy genre.

Nite Fire: Flash Point is filled with high intensity action scenes, adventure and suspense. It is riveting and entertaining, leaving the reader filled with fever and anticipation for the next book in the series. I highly recommend one of the most unbelievably, fantastic urban fantasies I've had the pleasure to read in a very long time. – Nite Fire: Flash Point by C.L. Schneider

Dahlia may have been labeled a traitor of Queen Naalish, but she was loyal to herself. Either way, she was no longer safe on Drimera.

Detective Creed is aware of non-earthly beings but falls into the quintessential human category. The unknown is real. It’s hiding and it’s dangerous. I kept wanting Dahlia to share her secret with him. I wanted him to know the truth, but his instinct probably would have led to serious issues.

Officer Evans is the exact opposite of Creed. He is the boisterous young man fearlessly heading into the scary haunted house silently hoping horror flicks are real. His reaction to it all was not something I would have imagined.

This action-packed story was masterfully written. The various worlds came to life right before my eyes. I loved the strength of the characters. It felt natural to empathize with Dahlia. I felt as she fought through her pain while searching for answers. I shared her exhaustion as she went from one crime scene to another. I felt her frustration as many questions remained unanswered.
