It has been much too long since I read ‘Be My Alien’, the first book in this series, so returning to Reed and Taz’s story was a treat. Taz - dumped on Earth by his date - has now been living with Reed for a month and some of his shenanigans as he explores life on Earth are hilarious. I also loved Taz’s comments about airplanes, and how unsafe they are compared to what he is used to on his home planet, Trygos. As Taz and Reed get to know each other better and meet Reed’s family, their relationship dynamic changes a little. Where Taz relied – and still relies - on Reed to learn about Earth’s customs, Reed now learns to lean on Taz for moral support and strength when facing his past in the form of a homophobic brother and stalker-y ex. Despite the threat from said ex, the story was super enjoyable and very cute!

Taz has adjusted to life on Earth – mostly. There are still many hilarious moments when he takes something literally that was meant as a figure of speech. Taz’s curiosity is incredible, his protective streak gets stronger each day, and his love for Reed grows deeper the longer they are together. He watches Reed around his family and fits in better than I had feared, but there are still quite a few comments and questions that show how different his culture is from ours.

Reed loves Taz to distraction, but he has to stay alert to his catlike alien’s different ways of seeing things. Even though it is not ideal to visit his family while his father is recovering from a mild heart attack, Reed enjoys introducing Taz as his boyfriend. His parents and sister are fantastic, his brother not so much. And then there is his abusive ex who suddenly turns up, seeming to want to reconcile. It’s the last thing Reed wants, and as the truth about their relationship emerges, I was all for getting rid of the idiot sooner rather than later. Unfortunately it is not that easy.

If you like your science fiction with a solid side of humor, if you want to know how Taz and Reed are getting on and how they deal with a scary stalker, and if you're looking for a hot read with a touch of suspense and lots of family love, then you will probably like this novel.
