This novel had a slow start. I almost gave up on it. I decided to finish it and it was a great decision. The book is warm and intriguing with a historical and modern tale woven together. I highly recommend it. ( )

I was very disappointed with this book, but I did finish it.The weakness of the text was a lack of characterization, lame dialogue and over exagerrated attempts to build connections. Each character's language seemed the same as anothers. Even the settings were bland- couldn't tell the California shore from Wales. The main character Taite was supposed to have a "wild side" with tatoos and dreadlocks, yet her language was the same as her mother!!! hmmm. not one I'd recommend. I wonder the opinions of those who rated it high? ( )

To the one who's tasted motherhood's tears, Both of sorrow and joy, And the one who's held her daughter's small hand, With a heart so filled with wonder she could hardly breathe, To the one now grown who, if she'd been asked long ago, "Where's home?" Would have answered, " Where my mommy is."
Youth fades, love droops; the leaves of friendship fall; A mother's secret hope outlives them all. Oliver Wendell Holmes

Taite Abbott hoped she had the courage to utter the words that had kept her in a cold sweat at night, heart thudding, for over a week.
