I read this years ago, and loved the heart and humor of the story. ( ) Sisters Patty Jane and Harriet rely on each other throughout their lives. They have to, as they survive horrible parenting and short-lived happiness with men, eventually finding independence by opening a salon. On cold Minnesota days, three generations of women gather to work in the salon, while nights see the space turned into an informal school where locals can show off their expertise. It's deeper than the title would imply, seeing the sisters through decades. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Comic Lorna Landvik gives Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon a feminine perspective with her story about Patty Jane and Harriet Dobbin, two wacky Minnesota sisters. Patty Jane's downfall is to marry the gorgeous but irresponsible Thor Rolvaag. Before she can say "annulment," a baby is on the way and Thor is gone, leaving Patty to rely on sister Harriet. It would be Patty Jane's entrepreneurial spirit that moves her to establish a beauty shop, her House of Curl, which evolves into a support group and community workshop over three tumultuous decades. Gently humorous and peopled with eccentric characters, Patty Jane's House of Curl is a heartwarming, deeply satisfying experience. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
