Very excited to share this with students this coming fall, who are always intrigued by the vastness of stars and numbers. Highly enjoyable to read and really fits in with math and science contentand wonderings.

A delightful book to read aloud to children who are thrilled by the sound of immense numbers, like ten quadrillion (the number of ants living on Earth, which together weigh the same as the seven billion five hundred million humans on Earth, according to Fishman). It's illustrated in a deceptively simple, colorful style that's easy to see from a distance -- a perfect library read-aloud book. Don't miss the author's note at the end, in which he explains a little bit about estimating such large, round numbers. ( )

A Hundred Billion Trillion Stars is a fun story that gives us many different numbers like the amount of stars, miles between the sun and Earth, number of seconds in a year and so on. This book is not only great for science but could be used in math as well. For science pedagogy I could see myself using this as a basis for experiments. For example, if the book says x number of breaths in a year we would then measure our number of breaths in a minute and so on then multiply to see if we get around the same number. Those experiments would be a good way to cross over math and science. I enjoyed this book but went in thinking I would get more space science and got more numbers instead. I would use this book with more of a science focus in older grades 2-5th and maybe more of a math focus (to show there are numbers everywhere) in k-2nd grades. ( )

The number of stars in our sky; how many are there, really? This book explores that and puts the scale of how many that really is into perspective. I give this book a 4 star rating because it's really well illustrated and does a good job of what it set out to do, put the numbers around us into perspective. ( )

I think this one of my favorite books. This book can be used to teach science or math! I liked how it showed space, the stars, and the earth and told us how many things are in space. The illustrations in this picture book are amazing! I think the illustrations was the first thing that drew me into the book. This is a book that I want in my own classroom one day! I ( )
