Skimmed briefly. Very short encyclopidic bio-notes with pictures. Seems to include most of the notable women of the modern age, mostly American, up through the end of the 20th century. ( )

While this book covers a very important part of history, the role of important women, and is written well, this book also has many clear difficulties, which makes me have mixed feelings. While the information it provides is clear and important, the images have too much going on, and the pages simply contain too much information. As this book is about important woman in history, it definitely will broaden the readers' perspective on woman's right throughout history. This plays into how clear the information written is, as without is being clear, the information would not be learned. An example of this is that for each different woman, there is a small blurb about them and why they are important to history; Mother Jones fought for safer conditions for working children. However, there was too much writing and the images create too much to look at, which in combination made the pages difficult to read. An example of this on one of the pages in the middle of the book, there are three women on each page, with a big chunk of writing next to each name, and then yet another chunk on the top of the page explaining the age from which they are from. This all leads to the pages being very cluttered and hard to read at certain points. The main message of the book is that women played a very important role in history, and it's vital to learn about them. ( )

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was more informational than a "tale." It gives a brief background of 100 women who have made some sort of impact in the US in different eras. It is organized by time period and gives a quick background of each era included. The book contains a glossary and other resources that would be helpful to young students researching the women featured in this book. This could be incorporated into a lesson about women and gender equality, and it could even be used while teaching about certain eras through American History. ( )

This book tells of 100 influential women throughout American history. It is divided into time periods and gives a brief history of that particular time period. Each time period gives a paragraph of information of 4-7 women. The illustrations are beautiful and help tell the stories of these women. Great for a little information about specific women, but it does not go in depth. The extra information (bibliography, glossery, etc.) is also helpful.
