I had set this novel aside for another book but decided to finish it, as it was lighter reading material. (Well, the other more pressing popular library book, just isn't holding my attention.) Cassidy Blake exists in a realm where ghosts invade every aspect of her daily life. She is saved by a ghost, who also becomes her best friend. Her parent's jobs also deal with the paranormal realm and they decide to do a tv series based on supernatural experiences in different countries. So, off to Scotland the whole family goes (with pet cat in tow) during one of Cassidy's breaks from school. As one would suspect, there are more other-worldly experiences in her future. This is the first book in the Cassidy Blake series, which is geared toward middle grade kids. In some ways it is an endearing story, in other ways it is annoying. It seems if someone tells Cassidy not to do something, the first thing she does is ignore that person's prudent advice. I did like this story but probably not enough to read the second book in the series. It was a fun Halloween type of read and I am rating it 3.4 stars. *I got this book for review for my honest thoughts* I really enjoyed this middle grade ghost story so much. I really though the chracters and the world building was standout in this novel. I really had a hard time putting this book down. I also loved how this story not only build a complex world but also could expand readers knowledge in easy to understand way. I also loved even thought his book was very magical. mystical in nature some themes like friendship and parents were pretty universal. I really found this book to be charming read and found it to the right mix of adventure but also creepy and think it would make a prefect fall read! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

A year or so ago Cassidy nearly drowned and Jacob saved her life. Since she has had the ability to go between the real world and the past. She has been able to see ghosts and what happened in their last moments of life. Sometimes she gets kind of trapped in the past and Jacob helps to bring her back – he helps to keep her grounded, even though you know, he’s a ghost.
Cassidy parents are authors of paranormal books that talk about history and lore of ghosts. They don’t know the secret their daughter has, that she can go between the living and the past. If they did, I am sure everything they believe would more then likely change on a dime. Because they are authors of such books they land a film contract and get to travel to haunted places in the world and talk about them. The first place they go is Scotland.
I have to say the many Harry Potter references throughout this book, I’d found fun and refreshing. I’d also enjoyed all the description that was given on both present and past. I haven’t done any research though, so I’m unsure about how much is true to historical content. I am looking forward to researching that once I am through writing this review.
I fully enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the next book in the series when it comes out this upcoming September. ( )
