DC and Dark Horse super-teens Young Justice and Spyboy & Co. team up in this thrilling crossover where they battle the deadly duo REMbrandt and Annie Mae. Author Peter David brings his wit and dynamic writing to the action filled pages where the plot begins with misunderstandings between both teams that cause initial rumbles before they put aside their differences to stop the villains from sending an international conference straight to Hell! Classic heros like Robin mix with eminently relatable heroes like Secret, Arrowette, and Butch whose lives are less than ideal. The plot is linear and well-paced with a shocking surprise ending that re-introduces a villain from Young Justice’s rogue gallery. The setting showcases Young Justice’s secret hideout, Spyboy’s civilian high school, the villain’s bailiwick, and Japan. Artists Pop Mhan and Todd Nauck combine their respective round and angular signature styles in a blend of high action shots and complimentary backgrounds with bonus manga trope “super-deforms” of each of the main characters. Good vanquishes evil and teamwork rules in the pages of this graphic novel. David’s dialogue is teen-friendly and distinct, with moments sure to stick with public and school library users.
