Well written, with good characterisation.

The story opens with Cole and Brooks performing an intervention for a mutual friend, Mercer, whose grief over the loss of his wife, Mary Grace, is driving him towards suicide. But is Mercer’s wife really dead? Cole has heard a rumour that she is alive and a captive. He plans to investigate and rescue her while Brooks keeps watch over Mercer.

There are plot elements that I have seen in other romantic suspense novels - like the tight-knit group of friends that conveniently includes a billionaire and a computer genius - but there are also plenty of unexpected twists and breathless action sequences. There is too (for my tastes) an excessive amount of sex. ( )

Resurrection is book one in a new series by one of my favorite authors, Katie Reus. Her books are automatic one click reads for me so I was thrilled when I heard she was doing a new series (especially after finding out she had ended my favorite series, the Red Stone Security series, a few months back).

Resurrection introduces us to a crew of friends from Redemption Harbor South Carolina. These friends have been thick as thieves since childhood. They have gone on to do different things with their lives, but have all stayed close. The story has a bit of a double plot line yet with kind of the same theme: back from the dead. And, no, I don't me the zombie kind. I mean the "death was faked" kind. Colt, a CIA agent, has been in mourning since his partner/lover was killed 6 months ago. But, his friend Mercer's wife was just killed in Mexico while working as a doctor for a small village. However, Colt got some intel that Mary Grace (Mercer's wife and Colt's life long friend) might not be dead after all. He plans to rescue her. He isn't the only one who plans to save her though.

Skye had to fake her own death to keep Colt away from the trouble. When she gets word that Mary Grace, one of Colt's life long friends, might still be alive, she goes in to save her. Skye, also a CIA agent, is as badass as they come! She gave me the same vibe as Jennifer Garner's character in Alias! Smart, sexy, totally in control, and seriously tough.

So, obviously neither Mary Grace or Skye are dead, and as you can imagine, as both Colt and Skye have the same goal in mind, it doesn't take long for Colt to discover Skye isn't dead either. But saving Mary Grace is only 1/2 the battle (and a little less than 1/2 the book). These two have so much more to do to ensure everyones safety! I think my only struggle with the book is that so much happens and its difficult to really absorb. You are introduced to everyone in the midst of MG being gone, Colt having already suffered through the death of Skye, and then, through that, you are meeting all these people (who will, I assume, be the main characters in future books). Not all of them are CIA agents, so they all have different jobs and talents, which I think is great-but it made it difficult to keep it all straight at times.

Super fast paced, dangerous, and steamy, Resurrection is everything I love about a Katie Reus romantic suspense story. The characters are clever, talented, and devoted to their job and their love. If you like non-stop action with romance weaved throughout, Resurrection delivers in spades and you will devour the book in 1 sitting like I did!

Another winner :-)

I just love a good second chance romance. Happily for me, Katie Reus did this one right. This book is the first of a new series and Katie takes a little time to introduce some terrific side characters in addition to a team of really kick ass MCs.

Both Skye and Colt were great characters, they were strong, clever, capable, confident, big hearted, and loved each other. There is no OW/OM poop in this story and the way the separation happened was very believable. I loved that Katie took the time to explain to the reader how a character as smart and capable as Skye ended up in a corner where her best option was to fake her death.

The supporting cast really exemplified the “when you show up with a dead body, a real friend grabs a shovel and doesn’t ask questions” kind of friends we all want in our lives and I look forward to seeing their stories in the upcoming books.

This story is well paced with lots of action and a very satisfying conclusion (the bad guy doesn’t get away with it – YEAH!!!).

The author gifted me an audible copy of this book with a request for an honest review. Well, I enjoyed the book so much, I bought the kindle copy too. The narrator did a very good job.

A new series by Katie Rues. YES! To say I’m a little happy is just like saying the sun is a little hot. I love this author’s military romance books. They are filled with suspense, fighting, and love, all wrapped in a pretty hot cover.

This new series is about a group of friends that grew up together in Redemption Harbor. One of them went missing/died when on a missionary trip to Mexico. Our hero in this book, Colt is out to save his longtime friend Mary Grace once he gets a tip that she is still alive. As he sets out on his own to rescue her, he finds out that she has already been rescued. By the woman that he thought died six months prior in an op, the woman that he loved with all his heart.

The story is strong, characters are amazing, they have good chemistry, and are all in different lines of work within the military. Looks like there will be lots of room for many more books in this series, and I’m so happy to see that book number 2 is already up for pre-order!

Oh, I really enjoyed this one!

Katie Reus is a new author to me--I've been meaning to read her for a while, and figured a brand new series (Redemption Harbor) would be a great place to start :)

It did not disappoint!

Resurrection introduces us to Colt, a CIA agent who has been somewhat estranged from his father but has made his own family by choice from a group of close friends, many of whom he's known since childhood. He's so tight with them all that Skye, his last partner who also became much more to him than a coworker, knew all of them by name even though she had to fake her own death before ever meeting them in person...and then risked it all to save one of them, for him.

Okay, I know that all sounds kind of complicated. But I promise it all makes sense the way Ms. Reus writes it--and is a heck of a lot of fun to read, too!

Colt and Skye have great chemistry together, and the back and forth between these two is fantastic as well. We meet all of the group members here--some of them more than others--but it's enough to see that this is going to be a great series. We're left with some really strong indicators about what's coming for book two, and I for one can't wait for its release!
