This was just right for what I wanted to read; I loved the Mackinac Island love and seeing it through Jordan's eyes. I think I would have liked the POV of Miles too just because he was from the island, but maybe the idea was keeping it all new to Jordan only. They were perfect for each other, and I appreciated that it ended with them still somewhat having to make long distance work; it made it nice to see that can happen rather than one person up and moving everything for the other. ( ) Mackinac Island sounds like a very special place, and it is exactly the kind of scenery Jordan needs to get away from it all. He has faced a bad breakup (with an ex who is now trying to get back in his good graces), and while his business is doing well, it is stressful. A break dedicated to his favorite film – think historic reenactment but movie-themed – is something that might just restore his equilibrium, especially since any modern technology is “forbidden” and the isolation will mean focus on very different things. Jordan may not have expected romance, but when local stable-owner, Miles, begins to pursue him, how can he resist? Things are not as easy as they look though: Miles’s stable is in trouble, he is too proud to accept help, and Jordan may have the means to support him, but with growing feelings between them there are all kinds of considerations that get in the way. Plus – they are looking at a long-distance relationship and when has that ever worked well? Miles and Jordan have a few things to figure out, but, pretty much from the start, it’s clear to both of them that it’s worth trying. Jordan has always wanted to find “true love” but has not managed to make that special connection so far. Miles has a few critical moments when Jordan’s secret is revealed, and that is when their relationship is really tested. As a setting, Michigan – and especially Mackinaw Island – really comes to life in this novella. The characters range from amusing to hilarious to annoying (yeah, the ex got to me almost as much as he did to Jordan), but all felt so real to me, I’d expect to really meet them if I ever travel to Mackinac Island. If you like romances with seasoned lovers finding out some things remain tough whether you’re twenty or in your forties, if business and love mixing (or not) are your thing, and if you’re looking for a modern-day love story set in the state of four great lakes, then you might like this novella. How far would you go for the man of your dreams? Now that he's single, Chicago businessman Jordan Monroe can finally take his long-desired trip to Mackinac Island for the Somewhere In Time fan celebration weekend. On the first day, Jordan finds himself attracted to Miles Colter, a handsome local stable owner who is giving horseback tours of film locations. Jordan is surprised and charmed that Miles pursues him. When Jordan learns the stable is in trouble, he wants to help despite Miles's resistance. As their relationship grows personally and professionally, Jordan dreads the issues that face theman ex who won't let him go, the complications of a long-distance relationship, and a secret he knows he shouldn't be keeping. Can Jordan and Miles find a way to forge a love as timeless as the romance in their favorite film? Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
