I like the story just fine, but I really wish this had been published as a single volume graphic novel instead of as three slim volumes that stop the story just as it gets going. And I would have preferred the appendices to be ditched altogether with any of the really necessary information integrated into the body of the tale. ( )

When Trish Nupindju (Hoverderby name: Trish Trash) rescues a Martian “bug” she’s shocked to find a humanoid native asleep in the place where she hid it. It’s surrounded by the shed pieces of its carapace. Trish is shocked and calls in her friend Marq. Marq is a nerd when it comes to indigenous Martians. After he arrives both he and Trish learn the planetary native is not an “it” but a she, and she knows how to craft something out of her discarded carapace that will become a great aid to Trish and her team.

This is another marvelously inventive entry in Abel’s science fiction sports story. And comes complete with a backstory taken from the official Martian corporate wiki. It’s great multicultural and multispecies fun. Plus it’s Y2K compliant ( )
