The photographs in the book illustrate the different breads and how the bread transforms from dough to the bread everyone is custom to seeing. The book is fast paced and has a rhythm that is catchy to children and fun. This book made me want to make bread, buy bread, and eat bread! With detailed photograph illustrations, the book takes the reader through the process of making bread, starting with the seed. This will be a great book to share with my English Language Development class as we are learning about where food comes from. This book describes the different way bread is used and the way bread is made. The author also adjectives to describe the different kinds of bread. When the author explains how bread is made he goes through the process from when the wheat is planted until the final loaf. I really enjoyed this book and the only way i can relate is i grew up on a farm and knew lots of people who grow and harvest wheat. I believe this a good book for young children who are learning about farming and wheat. For my classroom extension idea i would have the students make their own bread it would be a two to three day process but i think the students would really enjoy it. Another idea would be to take the students to a wheat farm and let them learn from the farmer the whole wheat process. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

From a patch of wheatgrass in his backyard, award-winning filmmaker George Levenson takes readers on a tour of bread made from scratch. A thresher, a grinder, and finally a doughy combination of flour, water, yeast, and oil combine to make a freshly baked loaf of whole wheat bread. With energetic, poetic text and vivid photographs, the creative team behind PUMPKIN CIRCLE- THE STORY OF A GARDEN shows children that there's a lot more to this kitchen staple than they might expect.
