( ) In my opinion, this is an amazing book. One reason I like this book is because of the use of photography instead of illustrations. According to the author’s note, Kitty Kelly wrote the story in order to share the photography of Stanley Tretick with children. Stanley Tretick worked as a photographer for President Kennedy. His pictures tell the story throughout the book. The sentences are short throughout the book, and the pictures take up most of the book. The real life pictures help children understand the impact that Martin Luther King had on the community. Another reason I liked this book is because of the accurate facts that are presented in a child friendly way. This is a nonfiction story that discusses relevant issues of race in America. The author presents it information in a way that children can understand. “Water fountains were separated, one for whites one for blacks.” The simplicity of the text allows young readers to begin to understand the significance Martin Luther King had on society. The main idea of this story is that Martin Luther King’s I Have a Dream speech was important to gain attention to the civil right’s movement as a whole. The story chronicles important milestones for Martin Luther King, but it focuses on the I Have a Dream speech. This text exposes children to one of the most important speeches in American history at a young age. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
