I think the size of this volume contributed to my inability to complete it as it was almost as large as a "coffee table" book.Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I enjoyed this very much. Some stories better than others but it was thrilling to read some of these adventures that I will surely never see myself. This book is a simply delightful collection of real-life stories. Some sought out their own adventure, some were thrust into it through no fault of their own, but in the end they all survived. Was there a common thread that tied these individuals together? Could some of these calamities been avoided? How would I have reacted in the same circumstances? The book does not attempt to answer questions, rather it just presents the stories and lets you the reader draw your own conclusions and lessons. High quality paper with 1-2 original color sketches to illustrate each story. High recommended for elementary education teachers looking to promote discussion with their students. If ever there was a book meant to be read aloud in small installments, this is it. Some of the tales are familiar, like the ones about Aron Ralston and Hugh Glass, whose dangerous adventures have been made into movies. Others are less known, but just as riveting. For survival enthusiasts, especially younger audiences, but for anyone who reads inspiration non-fiction. Beautiful artwork too. LT Early Reviewer An interesting look at survival stories, some famous, some not so much so. I was also interested in looking at the differences in the stories of people who ended up in scary situations by chance, and those who ended up in dangerous situations through their poor choices. It seems that, in the end, resilience and determination are the most important keys in survival situations. Although knowledge also helps! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

A collection of survival tales includes the story of a teenager who fell two miles from an airplane and trekked through the Amazon jungle to safety and a woman who was trapped under freezing water for so long that her heart stopped. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
