As the Thor series progressed, Lee improved the formula and deepened the backstory of the Thunder God by exploring his boyhood in Asgard and explaining why Loki was so evil and had such a hatred for Thor. He achieved a modicum of dramatic tension by Odin refusing to allow Thor to reveal to his mortal love, Jane, that he was actually Thor as well as Don Blake, and that would be the main conflict (aside from the revolving door of villains per issue) through this next group of ten issues. Volume 2 of Thor's early adventures and the standard lifts as Stan Lee and Jack Kirby (the latter back penciling the title regularly now) move the storylines into the more mythic style Thor is best known for.

The love affair between Thor/Don Blake and Jane Foster starts to heat up as does Odin's temper. Loki makes several appearances as well the The Grey Gargoyle making his debut and a guest appearance by Magneto.

As if 10 Thor features weren't enough for any True Believer, this collection is enhanced by the inclusion of 10 'Tales Of Asgard'. These 5 page vignettes are possibly Marvel's most mature and sophisticated work of these early years with Kirby often saving his most dramatic themes for this feature which was tucked away in the back of the comic.
