I think this book can be best used with primary level students who are also learning Spanish or children who speak Spanish and are learning English. It is about the story of the princess and the pea but the princess and everyone else is Latinx. A lot of the key words are in Spanish. This book did a FABULOUS job at blending English and Spanish. It represented Peruvian culture beautifully with a traditional European story. It was a fun take on the Princess and the Pea story. It was written in rhyme with lots of Spanish words and phrases within it, and it had a Spanish-English glossary at the beginning, which was very special. I would have this in my classroom library, or do this as a read-aloud if we were studying culture and/or fairy tales in a 1st or 2nd grade classroom. The Princess and the Pea gets a fresh twist in this charming retelling with Spanish sprinkled throughout. El príncipe knows this girl is the one for him, but, as usual, his mother doesn’t agree. The queen has a secret test in mind to see if this girl is really a princesa, but the prince might just have a sneaky plan, too . . . Summary: Latinx spin to the classic tale of Princess and the Pea. The prince wants to marry this girl, but mom disagrees. The mom puts a test for the girl to see if she is the right one. The twist in the end is that the Prince helped the girl out to pass the test by putting pitchforks and stones under the bed without his mom knowing. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
