I'm not going to rate this because that would be weird. Plus, there are 66 books in here, and my reactions to each vary quite a bit.
What I should do, is rate and review them individually. Then I could be halfway to completing my 2016 Reading Challenge. Heh. Just kidding.
The last time I read the bible all the way through was when I was a teenager. I thought it was about time for another go, but I can't say I recommend this as the best way to study the bible or to get the most out of it. My inner obsessive-compulsive was glad to make it all the way through again, but in the end, I agree with the author Dallas Willard that focusing and meditating on smaller passages is a better approach.
The cool thing is, I read it on my kindle and highlighted a lot, so I set myself up with material for more focused meditation.
I don't like everything I read in the bible, especially the Old Testament, and I still feel like the path to understanding is stretching far into the distance. But it's a treasure trove too, and if my initial reentry was a bit shallow, there's no reason for it to remain so.
So I don't know. For someone who hasn't picked up the bible in a while and is wanting to start wading back in, maybe this format is right for you. If you've never read it through and want to, this is a pretty easy way to get it done. It has Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs in each daily reading, so you're not bogged down with long stretches of the really tedious stuff (I'm looking at you, Leviticus).
This format served the purpose of getting through the bible in a year. I think that's that best way to evaluate it.

How do you review a bible? "Yes, this version of God's Word is better than Blank's version of God's Word."? :-)

Yes, versions do matter, I suppose, and the NIV version is a great version for readability. The text flows well and it is coherent and easily understood. I'm not sure I'd likely use it for studying scripture, but for daily reading it is a good translation.

This one is broken up into daily readings, letting you read the bible in one year. It doesn't include the Apocryphal books, but only the books generally found in the Protestant version of the bible. It is designed nicely to include readings from different parts of the bible on a daily basis without burdoning the reader with lots of extraneous text or discussion to confuse them. This is scripture laid bare, and given in a daily dose. Nice.

This version has a bonded leather cover, gilt edges and a place-mark ribbon. It feels good in one's hand. It is also large print, for those of us with aging vision apparatus. We get to the point where we can't hold the book far enough away to read it!

Overall, I like the way this book is constructed and thought out, and will make it a part of my daily prayer and study. It's nicely done. ( )

Would be better if divided up into 365 readings rather than 730. ( )
