"A simple mix up throws one innocent man into the crosshairs of sinister government secrets and ruthless political ambitions in New York Times bestselling author Joseph Finder's timely, electrifying new thriller. Michael Tanner is on his way home from a business trip when he accidentally picks up the wrong MacBook in an airport security line. He doesn't notice the mix-up until he arrives home in Boston, but by then it's too late. Tanner's curiosity gets the better of him when he discovers that the owner is a US senator and that the laptop contains top secret files. When Senator Susan Robbins realizes she's come back with the wrong laptop, she calls her young chief of staff, Will Abbott, in a panic. Both know that the senator broke the law by uploading classified documents onto her personal computer. If those documents wind up in the wrong hands, it could be Snowden 2.0--and her career in politics will be over. She needs to recover the MacBook before it's too late. When Will fails to gain Tanner's cooperation, he is forced to take measures to retrieve the laptop before a bigger security breach is revealed. He turns to an unscrupulous "fixer" for help. In the meantime, the security agency whose files the senator has appropriated has its own methods, darker still--and suddenly Tanner finds himself a hunted man, on the run, terrified for the safety of his family, in desperate need of a plan, and able to trust no one"--… (plus d'informations)

An airport is a place where irregularities are bound to happen - most of them turn out to be inconveniences.
It is a place where we get easily distracted. After all you got to hold on to your passport, boarding pass and you better do so for dear life.
When Michael Tanner, a young upstart entrepreneur, gets singled out to have his shoulder bag searched by airport security, such distraction is provided.
When, after the routine search, he returns to pick up his personal items from behind the x-ray machine, unknowingly Michael Tanner makes the eponymous "Switch".
It may not tax your etymological understanding nor will you have to be versed in a world of allusions, literary or otherwise.
What Joseph Finder's "The Switch" provides is down-to-earth, unpretentious if predictable entertainment. In sum, worth a read. ( )

Entertaining, but wow, NSA, hiitmen and all that adventure over a laptop. High suspense for a long time. Needs to be shorter. And what Senator uses a Mac? ( )

This is a good book but a few things were annoying. First, we KNOW Michael Tanner can smell things. Enough already. Also, a real estate agent uses a LOCK BOX not a padlock. This may just be me being picky but after a while, enough was enough. The story is predictable and won't take a lot of concentration. Might be a good book for airplane travel. ( )

Paint-by-numbers political thriller. Maybe a decent diversion on a bumpy plane ride, but otherwise not worth the couple of hours to read it. ( )

It is such a cliche to complain about the ending of thrillers. By their very nature they almost defy having a realistic or believable conclusion. So I try not to say "I liked it a lot except for the ending..." (I call this the Grisham rule) but I have to break my rule here. This was a very enjoyable and engrossing escapist thriller read that I was thoroughly enjoying and for which I was preparing my five star review. I had a problem with the ending. I will say though that while it annoyed me it did not destroy the enjoyment I had already had and I'll give it a solid 4 stars despite my annoyance. And no, I'm not going to tell you what annoyed me about it. At the top of my annoyance list are those who think spoilers are fantastic and those of us who despise them should just get over it. I will not be the one to spoil the ending for any one who wants to read it. ( )
