There’s certainly stuff in Proverbs about wealth, which is Joel’s stereotypical topic, but he’s not a big Proverbs or gnomic sayings guy. I think his style is more on the pastoral end of Paul; like Paul has the high theological beginnings usually, and then he ends with making it practical. Of course, in Paul’s letters the high theological parts are often about your worth in God, and the endings about your obligations; today I think that the styles tend to be a little different, since many of the high theological your-worth-in-God-as-demonstrated-in-Eternally-Holy-Scripture people also tends to be the most legalistic people, strangely. I can’t explain it, but I can observe it. Joel is more about your worth in God in a practical way, you know; you have worth in God, so take care of yourself instead of beating yourself up. He writes applied Christian psychology…. Ironically he’s an evangelical, actually he’s, very, evangelical, in a way, in a technical way, although the word in its popular connotation in many circles—grumpy, etc—does not apply to him, even though he is very centrist, really, politically. Money is kinda centrist, when you come down to it. When you take away people’s destructive attitudes, habits, and actions, prosperity just wants to bless everyone, regardless of what people understand or don’t understand, or almost anything else, really…. It just won’t work if you want to punish yourself, and enlist God to do that for you. …. It’s easy to overlook, but it’s a very nice book. He talks about many things you assume that he would never talk about, that would seem trivial if summarized by me. He talks about all the things that we have already heard but often assume don’t matter to God, you know. I call this book a classic. This is a great book! Although it was written quite a few years ago, it’s not out of date. It’s still relevant for today. I purchased this book some years ago, but I still use as a reference and am constantly finding new passages/quotes to highlight! It teaches how you can enjoy your life where you are no matter what you’re facing. It provides steps to assist with changing your words, thinking, actions, letting go of the past, self-awareness, to become a better you. If you’re looking for encouragement and self-improvement, this is a good book to read. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

“Enlarge your vision through eyes of faith, positivity, joy and happiness. Negative thinking does not allow for God to open the windows of your heart to understand the blessings that God has for you and will give you. Faith and courage over fear is more important than sadness and negative feelings. Believe God and His Goodness and Favor and He will bless you abundantly. Seek for wisdom, knowledge and understanding in life and blessings will run over like a fountain of righteousness and glory in the Messiah.” ( )
