For eons, conquering dungeons has been the most efficient way to become a strong adventurer. Although, not everything is as straightforward as it seems. Several questions have always plagued the minds of those that enter these mythical places of power: Why are there so many monsters? Where do the amazing weaponry and heavy gold coins come from? Why does the very air fill with life-giving energies?! Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions, for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Heart, a soul forced against his will into a magical stone. After several lonely years, Cal was able to regain sentience, allowing him to form new memories while slowly growing a dungeon around himself. With help from a friend, Cal learned how to create monsters and traps, increasing his power and size quickly. When a threat to his existence rears its head, Cal decides that he will do anything to stay alive and become stronger. Unfortunately for treasure-seekers, the fastest way for Cal to achieve his goal . . . is to eat anyone that enters his depths.… (plus d'informations)

Interesting concept but not for me ( )

Great fun if you're a gamer, but not recommended for general fantasy readers. ( )

It had been so long since I bought this, and I didn't bother to reread the description, so going in to the story I had no idea that the book would be from the dungeon's perspective... but I absolutely loved that it was! Cal, the Dungeon Heart, was a hilarious, naive and curious character and the bond between him and Danny was both adorable and funny in it's own way.

Dale was also a brilliant character. He was as ambitious as he was naive which lead to some interesting situations.

I regret having waited so long to read this book, and I'll definitely be reading the rest of the series just as soon as I can get my hands on them! ( )

Even for genre fiction, this book is subpar. Intriguing story but lacking characters. But that's not the problem. You could get another star by simply getting rid of the many, many, *many* -ly words. Show don't tell. Using this many adverbs is lazy. ( )

I really enjoyed this book. It had some moments where the author tried, blatantly, to be funny, or double-entendre, but... I even kinda enjoyed those attempts. I don't read a lot in this genre, so it has a "novelty" shine to it for me, which might mean it's not as good as I think it was, but... that doesn't matter - I thoroughly enjoyed the story. ( )
