This book documents the cannons used during the Texas Revolution in 1835 and 1836. There were over 80 land-based cannons present in Texas during 1836, including 21 brought by the Mexican army. Approximately 30 more were on naval ships. The "Come and Take It" cannon is in Texas today, in another form - probably as a church bell in San Antonio. The Twin Sisters of San Jacinto fame were seen in Austin in 1864, from there they went to San Antonio and accompanied Rip Ford to the Rio Grande. They participated in the last battle of the Civil War and were last known in Fort Brown in June of 1865. All 21 of the cannons used in the Battle of the Alamo and left in San Antonio have been rediscovered, and ten are on display in San Antonio. Six guns that were abandoned by Fannin at Goliad are on display in Goliad today. Artillery used in the Battle of Coleto was taken to Matamoros by the retreating Mexican army.
