How to Live Like a Caribbean Pirate by John Farndon and Tatio Vian 1780s and a little boy has been kidnapped and lands on Blackbeard's ship. He sits up in the crow's nest and gets extra money if he's the first to discover ships in the area. Love all the travel around the island and mainland. Interested in this era as I am watching a tv show series about pirate and Vikings in Canada. Like l earning of the tactics used. Love the glossary at the end of the book of the terms used throughout. Sidebars tell you about the pictures in this audio book. Love learning how they make food and the clothes they wear. 10 facts are also given about this job. I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device). aucune critique | ajouter une critique

This is a very basic introduction to what a pirate’s life would be like. Even though the book is very short and doesn’t contain a lot of information, it doesn’t shy away from some of the gruesome parts of pirate life, including descriptions of weapons, beheading, and losing limbs. Creating a character for the reader to follow along with falls somewhat flat because it struggles between trying to have a story and provide enough historical information. For children who need some extra motivation to read nonfiction it may help grab their interest, but there are plenty of other books that have either a better story or a better collection of facts on the subject.
