Note: I accessed a digital review copy of this book through Edelweiss.

This book is written kind of like a graphic novel, with speech bubbles and corresponding pictures. It's all about Jane Goodall's life and how she became who she is today. It starts off in her early life and goes all the way into her adult life and her methods with working in chimpanzees in Africa.

I like the message this book sends out to kids. Mostly about how we all share this earth. I think Jane Goodall is a very inspiring woman and this book could be read when learning about women who changed the world! I loved the illustrations and style this book is written in, super cute!

This is an easy, written in first person biography about the life of Jane Goodall. It depicts this scientist as a child and talks about her work with chimpanzees.

This book documents the life and accomplishments of Jane Goodall in a manner similar to that of a comic strip. Each page has text, and the illustrations supplement this text by having speech bubbles with dialect related to the overall idea of the page. The story begins during Jane's infancy, when she received a stuffed chimpanzee toy. The first half of the book is dedicated to portraying the childhood experiences that lead Jane to become the scientist she is today. The second half of the book explains the unique way that Jane approached her research of chimpanzees while in Africa. At the end of the book, resources and advice is given in order to support children who would like to learn more about environment issues, Jane Goodall's work, and becoming a scientist in general.

This text has two main ideas: 1."We don't own this Earth, we share it." and 2. Societal standards can be broken if you work hard enough. Jane Goodall grew up in a time when society didn't believe women could be scientists. Jane rejected this norm and pursued her dream anyway, changing history and opening doors for girls and women all over the world. Her approach to animal research was also unique. She would give the chimps names instead of numbers to identify them, and she focused on building a relationship with them in order to learn how their communities and minds work. The message that she wanted to share with the world was that we share the Earth with so many complex creatures, and we need to respect them and our planet. ( )

This book is super cute and informative about the amazing life that Jane Goodall has had. It takes us through Jane Goodall's childhood and where she got her knowledge of animals, specifically chimpanzees. The book has great illustrations that go exactly with the story in a very cartoon way. One this I disliked about "I am Jane Goodall" was just how small some of the text was within the talking bubbles. Sometimes it just made it hard to read. Other than this I would recommend this book.
