"Most know Androma Racella as the Bloody Baroness, a powerful mercenary whose reign of terror stretches across the Mirabel Galaxy. To those aboard her glass starship, Marauder, however, she's just Andi, their friend and fearless leader. But when a routine mission goes awry, the Marauder's all-girl crew is tested as they find themselves in a treacherous situation-and at the mercy of a sadistic bounty hunter from Andi's past. Meanwhile, across the galaxy, a ruthless ruler waits in the shadows of the planet Xen Ptera, biding her time to exact revenge for the destruction of her people. The pieces of her deadly plan are about to fall into place, unleashing a plot that will tear Mirabel in two. Andi and her crew embark on a dangerous, soul-testing journey that could restore order to their ship-or just as easily start a war that will devour worlds. As the Marauder hurtles toward the unknown, and Mirabel hangs in the balance, the only certainty is that in a galaxy run on lies and illusion, no one can be trusted."--Jacket flap.… (plus d'informations)

* I got this book from NYCC*
I really loved this book. I normally struggle with science fiction but this book was a super addictive read. I loved all the POV characters and the various POV made this such a rich and engaging story. I really loved all the POV characters. I was so captured by the plot and the characters and I had a hard time putting it down. This book was so prefect and even thought it was long, it was a super quick read. This is def a book that I would read again. Very good!

I'll be writing up a full video review while I'm on vacation and film it when I get home. Absolutely loved, but there were a few problems. ( )

I honestly tried to like it. Some people derived true pleasure from reading this book so I went in optimistic, trying to resist my more cynical tendencies. Then I got the prologue and immediately regretted my decision.

I don't know the authors. I'm not familiar with the booktubing world, so I have no positive or negative views on them. But from what I've seen, the people responsible for this book are truly good people who love reading and writing. So I can't fathom how they fell into every possible book trap. Corny writing, needless repetition, the classic Science Fiction "let's throw in some gills/fins/feathers/spikes for no reason" trope. The plot is so thin I need to wear an undershirt when I put it on. After getting maybe a third of the way through I found my attention drifting, as nothing was keeping me hooked. The setting, the characters, it all felt like bad replications of plain Sci Fi that I've already read.

I don't want to spend a super long time ripping on this book, because plenty of people already have. But I will point out one thing that not enough people are talking about: they use the word "biodrugs". Now, Zenith is filled to the brim with dumb random "science-y" words that are never explained or fleshed out. I guess they thought that would make it feel immersive, yet they continued to use other familiar slang words and regionalisms so it simply came off as conflicting and weird. But I don't think enough people truly stopped to appreciate how awful the word "biodrugs" is for a Science Fiction story. It comes off like the level of satire I'd expect from an SNL skit, or a play written by middle schoolers. Like a bad Star Wars parody where Luke leans over to Han and says "Hey, wanna star-walk over to that space-alley and smoke some BIODRUGS?"

But nope. It's not a joke. It's just a bad book. If Zenith were a joke, it would have ended after one page and I would have given it five stars. ( )

This book was both interesting and boring. I found it to be a little slow. I honestly think that it would be better as a show. I would recommend this to my sister but I don't know anyone else who would like this book. People who watch the original Star Treks may like it. It was an okay book. Not the best but not the worst. I do like that the book had each chapter that it focused on one character's story.

Zenith is about a girl named Androma or Andy. She was in pilot school, top of her class. She was put in charge of the General's daughter's ship. That all changed very quickly, Andy killed the General's daughter. She was put up on trial. Now she was on the run and has been for years. Now being chased through the galaxy, leaving a bloody trail as her all girl crew goes along. The crew hides, runs away, and brings illegal items to criminals. One fateful day her crew doesn't get away from the General she running from. She and her crew fight back but fail. Andy's crew gets but in the ships jail. Andy stays upstairs trapped in a room with her ex. The last time he saw her he had threatened to turn her into the police. The General now sits Andy down, she expects the worst. The General says "If you find my missing son, I will let you free and all bounties on your head will be gone." Androma is shocked. Now Androma goes on an adventure to save the General's son and help herself become free once again.
