Mary Ann Scheuer's wonderful review at Great Kids Books piqued my interest. ELIB 530A – LibraryThing Part B – Beginning Book / Alphabet Book 2 On each page of this book, John Nickle has created a fantastic drawn composition that is a collage of characters and objects, which have little in common but that they all begin with the same letter. The pages have from 3 – 47 things to count. This is clearly not a book that is “read” from front to back in one sitting. At the beginning of the book there are instructions on “How to Play”, which include what to count and what not to count. At the end of the book the answers are given for each letter and they include adjectives and adverbs. This is a book best shared between a child and an adult. Some of the illustrations are too small to make sharing it with a group feasible. It reminds me of how Sesame Street shows usually feature just one letter and number etc. per episode. That might be the best way to approach this book; look at 1 or 2 pages each day. For children just learning the alphabet that might be all their attention span can handle. Alphabet Explosion by John Nickle is a book with lots of pictures on every page. The first page has twenty-two pictures on it that begin with the letter A. The second page has twenty-nine pictures with the letter B. The book has every letter of the alphabet with a certain number of pictures for that letter. It is a great educational book for children learning to count, learning the alphabet, and learning that words begin with specific letters. John Nickle writes and illustrates children’s books. He attended college at the University of South Florida. His book, Hans my Hedgehog, is currently in progress. http://www.johnnickle.net/html/bio.html Alphabet Explosion presents 26 challenging visual puzzles that will appeal to both youngsters and adults. With a full-page illustration and the number of things to ‘spy’ for each letter, you and your child(ren) could spend hours with this book. On the page for ‘S’, we are told to look for 47 things that begin with ‘S’. You might expect a snake – but would you recognize ‘slithering’ as well? Good luck! aucune critique | ajouter une critique
It's an alphabet explosion 18 things in this book begin with the letter A, 19 start with H, and there are 37 ways of counting S. Can you find them all? As you search, discover dazzling worlds where poodles paint, crows ride in corn-on-the-cob cars, unicorns wear underwear, and so much more. And when you've counted your way from A-Z, check your answers in the back of the book that lists all 421 things that appear. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
