March 2023 reread: I love the first 100 pages - Killian and Libby getting to know one another. I feel like the first three books in this series have wonderful beginnings; taking time to build intimacy between the MCs. This is a good start to the series but not the best in the series, imo.

First read: I really enjoyed this rockstar romance. It had a A Star is Born vibe but fear not, this has an HEA!

CW: this series features some pretty difficult issues such as attempted suicide (off page), alcohol and drug use that may be considered dependency, drunk driving (on and off page), death of parents (off page), but I think the books do a pretty good job handling. Take care of yourself! ( )

I really enjoyed this romance between Lawn Bum and Elly May! There were lots of LOL moments. It certainly would have been a five if not for some of the frustrations in the story! They both just made some dumb decisions that caused too much conflict. It all could have easily been avoided with a little honesty. I don't care for too much self induced angst. I felt the very beginning dragged just a bit. I definitely can't wait to read Scottie's story next. Good writer.... ( )

Purely escapist with all of the self-involved navel-gazing that I expect from NA fiction these days. Also, all of the slightly self-conscious writerly-ness (the I've-been-using-my-thesaurus-for-maximum-effect is a valid style choice, right?).

I've read this story before, or variations thereof, but I didn't hate it, so 3 stars even though I was eye-rolling hard. ( )

I put this one somewhere between a three and a four star rating. But a little bit closer to three than four. But only because of the ending. Don’t get me wrong, I love happy endings. And this was a happy ending.

I was very happy with this book up until about 2/3 of the way through it. I loved how they met. I loved how she had no idea who he was when they met and therefore did not get starstruck. I loved when she figured out who he was and she did get a little weird and starstruck. But for the most part, she treated him like just a regular guy still.

I didn’t love so much when he convinced her to go on tour with him, but it seem to work out for them. For a while. Until it didn’t. And that’s when my trouble came in to play. With a book of this nature, you have the inevitable angst and drama that leads to some sort of split or break up. You see it coming. But these two loved each other so much and they knew each other so well that the whole “break” was kind of contrived and stupid. It was something that had to be done, but not really. None of that was really necessary.

At the end of the day, this clearly was not the life for Liberty. And if Killian is honest with himself, it may not be the life for him anymore either. I will say that the band had interesting dynamics. The whole thing with Jax really messed them all up. I’ll be curious to see who the rest of them fall in love with. I don’t see a book for Whip yet, does he get one?

But for the most part, I really like the book and I like this couple. Kylian was a good guy. Anything, he cared cared too much he cares too much about his loved ones ( )

This was a super cute read where Killian, rock star, has been on hiatus after some personal tragedy, and goes off to live in a remote coastal location. He meets Libby, farm girl, and they hit it off. I loved the chemistry and sass between these two. The relationship that develops, and eventual stresses when he has to return to touring were well played out, and I liked the way the author handled the pacing. Will definitely check out more by her!
