Could be used in a "get to know you" activity where the students write their own poetry about themselves, The central message of the poem book I’m Glad I’m Me is to appreciate oneself for who they are. One of the poems in the book, Whistling, is about a young boy who cannot whistle but is not ashamed that he has not yet mastered this skill. Another poem, My Creature, is about a girl who has created a creature out of clay but does not know what it is. The girl is not bothered by her lack of artistic ability. Instead, she is happy that she made the creature all by herself. The poem I’m Glad I’m Me is about a boy who expresses his confidence in who he is. He mentions how there is no one else he wants to be because he is happy with the person that he is. This book contains thirty-one poems all of which inspire readers to celebrate who they are. I'd use this book in a kindergartner or first grade classroom as an icebreaker and have a read aloud. This would open the stage for individuality and I'd then have the students create a picture of their faces, using different materials and writing a sentence bout themselves. This would be a great way to make each stunt feel accepted on day one. Summary: A book about poems, the children in the poems refer themselves to animals, a girl "roars" like a lion. Personal: This book is very cute and would be a great introduction to poetry for children to read. Classroom: Have the children write a poem about themselves, why they are glad that they are themselves. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
