Donor conception for young children in two mom families, using sperm-and-egg terminology and with deliberate-but-backgrounded attention to gender and family arrangement. The framing story of a rained-out safari humanizes the information, and an introduction for parents talks about how to tell the story of donor conception to kids. Lots of good information and context using today's most widely acceptable language. ( ) The title doesn't reflect the density of the topic (thus the more-explanatory subtitle). Couching Zak's story as a tourism tour doesn't quite fit either. Yet the story is developmentally appropriate for sharing with young children and covers topics such as sperm, egg, sperm bank and seeking "help" from friends in straightforward and child-positive tones. The lesbian couple is diverse. Zak portrays his family as loving and active and traditional as any other family. The author's note provides discussion guidance for parents. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Zak's Safari is a book about donor-conceived kids of two-mom families. When the rain spoils Zak's plan for a safari adventure, he invites the reader on a very special tour of his family instead. Zak shows us how his parents met, fell in love, and wanted more than anything to have a baby--so they decided to make one. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
