The best Lovecraft was "the colour out of Space" and the rest never succeeded in scaring me. Are the Daleks metal-clad Cthulhu?...That was the only question this man's work has ever inspired in me. as you can see by the reading date, I read the original Ballantyne edition in 1972, so the accredited one is a reprint. ( ) A part of this book is a biography of HP Lovecraft, explaining a little of his life story but more to the point, examining how the Cthulhu Mythos got started and how Lovecraft influenced and continues to influence writers to the time of the writing of this book, in 1972. However, I have come to realize that what actually constitutes "Lovecraftian" and "Cthulhu Mythos" are two different ball games in many ways, so you need to read this one carefully and decide on your own if Carter's classification of "mythos" stories flies with you personally or no. Overall, a decent book for examining HPL & those writers he influenced. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
