Which creature is the deadliest? Is it the insect that bites, the ostrich that kicks, the snake that squeezes, or the shrew that paralyzes? Is it the most venemous, the most poisonous, or the one that infects its victims with a fatal disease? Fascinating facts and spectacular illustrations will inspire young readers to choose which creature they think is the deadliest in this newest picture book collaboration between Guiberson and Spirin. --Publisher… (plus d'informations)

I was drawn to this because of the graphic illustrations and unbelievable facts. Some of the animals in this book are the Bull shark, Anopheles mosquito, and Gaboon Viper. It is important to be able to identify these creatures in case you come face-to-face with one. Many of these animals are venomous, some even stronger than humans. This book has good examples of techniques used by animals to catch their prey. For example, squeezing their prey to death or paralyzing them with venom. Overall, this book is a great starting point for those who are interested in zoology.
My thoughts on this book are why it is very factual, it does not peak my interest. This book could be improved by adding more detail. What originally caught my eyes were the way the animals killed their prey. My favorite deadly creature in this book was the Anopheles mosquito. I was surprised to learn that it kills millions of people each year. Some of the things I'd like to know are the creatures' habitats and everyday lifestyle. In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this book because it's not very descriptive. ( )

The book "The deadliest creature in the world" is a category of nonfiction science book with pictures. This book narrates how the fourteen species claims themselves as deadliest because they use their body weapons to catch the prey and to protect themselves through sucking blood, using venom, exploding tentacles, biting through poisonous glands, and so on. All the pictures are painted in the artistic sense. The portion of Black Mamba is really mind-blowing when it says the word "kiss of death." I prefer this book for the sixth-grade students so they can research further on their project and read aloud. ( )

As I read this book I could imagine about 20 different young children that I know who would love this book! The author writes it as if the animals are having a competition to see who the deadliest creature in the world is. Each page describes the most terrifying characteristics about an animal and ends with the author posing the question to the reader. The author invites the reader to make their own decision given the information provided in the book. Along with the beautiful illustrations this book gives us insight into some of the most dangerous animals in the world. What a great book! ( )
