Remember it was the one to read on prayer when I was a student many years ago! Still really good... ( ) This is a good and thought provoking (hopefully prayer provoking) book on prayer (aptly titled, Prayer). I was given this book by a pastor I respect and find there is lots to chew on. Hallesby focuses on prayer as 'opening our hearts to Jesus.' Because this is his central image, whatever else he has to say about prayer and what prayer is and does is seen through the lens of relationship. Also his link between faithfulness/helplessness as naming the proper mode for which we offer up out prayers helpfully frames this for me. This is one I will refer back to.
