Could be used for a space/ stars lesson ( ) Seymour Simon describes many varieties of stars, from red giants to white dwarfs, from the enormous explosions known as supernovas to tiny, extremely dense neutron stars-a tiny drop of a neutron star would weigh a billion tons on Earth. You will also learn about such fascinating objects as nebulas, black holes, pulsars, and the incredible quasars, each of which gives off more than a hundred times the energy of all the stars in the Milky Way put together. "Stars" by Seymour Simon does an excellent job of describing stars and how they function in space. The book is chalked full of great images of different constellations, various stars (including the Sun) and what our solar system looks like from space. The book also does a great job of keeping it simple, yet interesting. There is something to be learned, even for an adult. Summary: A Smithsonian book by Seymour Simon in a series of books on science. This book has wonderful photographs and drawings to go along with the descriptions of celestial bodies. It describes the history of the naming of stars and what the future holds for stargazers. Review: I thought this books was a great book full of gorgeous pictures and full of information about the stars and beyond. SOme of the information seemed to be a little hard to grasp for those of us who need a little extra time to take in a lot of numbers and scientific information. This seems to be aimed at older elementary to middle school. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
