It has picture that are symmetrical and it exhibit poetry to kids at a young age. This book is mainly writttten about a young boy who is getting ready for Christmas with his family. Shom good thing and bad things happen in this story. ( ) LOTS of fun ... even the 11-year-old liked it. Will be back to do full review. Adult Reader Reaction: This is a cute story, with a nice father-son connection that you don't often see in holiday books. I didn't like the illustrations. The colors were T-O-O vivid. I felt as though the book deserved "softer" (less computer-looking) images. Pros: The magic of Santa lives on in this holiday story featuring Father Christmas and his son. Each poem has a silly tone; some even made me giggle. I also liked that the silly tone was supported with the creative illustrations. For example, one of the poems is about Christmas caroling. The point of view for this poem is from a child who is describing his family singing Christmas carols. The character explains that his “Dad sings like a buffalo” and his “Mother like a moose.” The illustration for this text is of his parents having heads of the respective animal he describes that they sound like. I also liked the characters used in the different poems. Each poem had a different point of view of a child during the wintertime. I think by having different children be the narrator for the poems allows younger students to be able to relate to them. There may be some parts of the poems where students can reflect and think about different activities that they take part in during the winter that are similar to the activities the characters participate in. There is no major message of It’s Christmas, but it could be used as an enjoyable book to read during the wintertime to younger students. Longer text divided into the different aspects of Christmas. Has more challenging vocabulary for Independent readers. http://www.jackprelutsky.com/ aucune critique | ajouter une critique
