CX16 Camilo is a great writer, though he is hopelessly bound by the romanticism of the time. This is the pinacle of Portuguese romanticism, probably one of the most outrageously romantic European novels of the 19th century (along with Goethe's Werther). The drama verges on the silliness. Yes, everything conjures up to separate them and, yes, they'd rather die than live apart. Not something to read if you're thoroughly modern. “Amor de Perdição” é uma obra: equilibrada, com enredo conciso, sem episódios dispersivos, sem um número excessivo de personagens, cheia de conceitos populares. Foi escrita por Camilo Castelo Branco, que foi um romancista português, que também foi cronista, crítico, dramaturgo, historiador, poeta e tradutor. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Perhaps the height of Portuguese romanticism, Amor de Perdic'o is a Portuguese Romeo and Juliet. Sim'o Botelho and Teresa are hopelessly in love, but their families are rivals in Viseu. When Teresa's father, Tadeu, discovers their love, he shuts her in a convent. But, while trying to see his beloved, Sim'o kills Baltasar, and eventually condemned to death. The sentence is commuted to 10 years of service in India, but before the sentence is executed, both Teresa and Sim'o die of broken hearts. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
