After listening to this second in the Womens Murder Club Series, I've decided I won't listen to any more. The author has an interesting crime as the first one was--something a bit different. However, the way he puts it together with the rest of the story is almost formulaic and I felt like I was listening to the same story as the first, just shifted around a bit. There's another love story, more risk taking and certainty about who the criminal is and similar twists and turns as the story nears the end. ( ) New San Francisco Homicide Lieutenant, Lindsay Boxer, finds herself on the track of a serial killer attempting to incite racial hatred by targeting Blacks, but is this just a blind? Her estranged father, an ex cop, makes an unexpected appearance, seeking to right the wrongs he did to his family, but was he running from more than his family 20 years ago? This should have been a very good read, and probably had I had read it, as opposed to listen to it on CD during commutes, it might have been better. The female reader insisted on spitting emphasis to every phrase, making even a walk up steps a highly-strung event. I also take umbrage to a modern Crime novel where the female police lead has to gather her "friends" around her at open coffee shops, not only to chit-chat in the middle of an investigation but to help her solve the case. So much for trained team she's working with. If you are a James Patterson/Andrew Gross fan you'll love this, but I won't be seeking any more from the Women's Murder Club. I'd better state that this audio book came via Father Christmas. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
