I wish I could be super eloquent and recommend this book in a way that makes me sound like a seasoned reader instead of a blithering idiot, but all I can manage is ANNIEEEE. ANNIEEEE. ANNIEEEE. I've loved the short stories where she's a POV character, and to have a whole novel with the promise of another when 'Tricks for Free' comes out is just so exciting. The October Daye and InCryptid series have long been neck and neck in my faves, but I think InCryptid has officially pulled ahead with Magic for Nothing, because Seanan has done things to my heart with it that I really didn't expect. I wanted to write a lengthy review with memory-notes, as I did for the previous installments of the series, but time passed and I forgot all the details and it's to late now, too late I tell you! This felt like reading 3-4 books at once. There's the opening with the Price familly being them, and Antimony being confused and a complete derby babe. And then. Then there's some spy-infiltration stuff, like a cheap Bond novel, only with fanatical Templars of shorts. And heartbreaking mice reunion. And then. Then there's a circus, and circus stuff, and trapeze stuff. And mice sex. And then. Then there's romance. Interspecies erotica romance. And moster fighting. And drama. And saying goodbye to the mice. Aaaaaand the end. It was too much, it was hastily written, and Antimony had so much build-up from the previous books that it was almost impossible for her to meet my expectations. The writing was again mediocre - you don't feel like this Price girl has a different voice or personality than the other ones. However, it was nice to see some interaction with Verity, and her kinda comming to terms with the person her sister is. Despite all of this, it was the best book in the series. I'm glad I powered through those terrible Verity books to get to Antimony. There will be no mice in the next one. I don't know how I'll cope. I hope Antimony gets a girlfriend, to compensate my pain for losing the mice. DO YOU HEAR ME SEANAN? Please! aucune critique | ajouter une critique
"As the youngest of the three Price children, Antimony is used to people not expecting much from her. Annie's expectations keep getting shattered. She didn't expect Verity to declare war on the Covenant of St. George on live television. She didn't expect the Covenant to take her sister's threat seriously. And she definitely didn't expect to be packed off to London to infiltrate the Covenant from the inside ... --Publisher's description. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

Ugh, that's a terrible title. This is the best Cryptic book, IMO. Ms. McGuire has hit her stride in the series and I look forward to more. ( )
