Good start to Alice and Thomas Price, but I want more of this story. And also, why isn't he a sorcerer? I thought he was a sorcerer. Boy, this is a lot of characters to keep straight. ( )

Back at the beginning of Alice & Thomas's story. This is a nice introduction to teenage Alice, Thomas, the Old Parrish Place, swamp bromeliads, and the Healy family of 1954. ( )

This short story (indeed, there are more to come, but after the third book in the series 'Half-off Ragnarok') focuses on Alice when she first meets Thomas Price, the man who will forsake the Covenant in favor for the Healy's.

I was a bit surprised to read that Thomas was already on the verge of deserting even before he met Alice and was sent to America in the first place as a punishment of some sort. Stupid move from the Covenant of course, as apparently they never heard the saying that you should keep your friends close, but your (soon to be) enemies closer still.

It was short and nice to read, but it didn't really feel like a complete story and I would have liked it to be slightly longer. ( )

Alice, comparing everything in life to being eaten by monsters. She's great.

Jonathan Healy used to be a hero, once upon a time. Saddest of sads.
