I appreciated her honesty and openness about her life and struggles along the way. The lesson about women sharing that they have help is essential! I love her passion for writing and how it has created a thriving life for her. ( ) I really wanted to like this book and Yes there were a couple of good tid bits. I found the couple of little gems of information in this however to be swimming in a sea of waffle. I abandoned this after getting 3/4 of the way through - I didn't have the patience for Shonda's writing style. Sorry Shonda love your television series just didn't love this book. She owns Thursday nights. Her hit TV shows are amongst some of the highest rated AND she has written a book. Shonda Rhimes is a powerhouse. Her book Year of Yes is an ode to all people (especially women) to break the mold, get out and live and to do so without shame or guilt. Year Of Yes is part memoir and part self-help. Reminiscent of Glennon Doyle’s Untamed, Year Of Yes is relatable and inspiring to women. Shonda, who by nature is an extreme introvert, cracks open the safe of her life and bares all her insecurities in a humorous relatable manner. She talks about what inspired her to step way outside her comfort zone and say YES to all things for one year and by doing so what she learned on along the way. Some of my favorite parts were: learning about how her fictional character, Christina Yang, truly inspired her, her insight toward why woman have a difficult time taking a compliment, motherhood, and being a FOD – First Only Different. If you are a fan of any of her shows, want to learn more about the writer that brought us Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal (amongst others), or just looking for a little motivation for yourself, I highly recommend this book to you. It is blunt, honest and very hilarious. “She has learned to not let go of the pieces of herself that she needs in order to be what someone else wants. She’s learned not to compromise. She’s learned not to settle. She’s learned, as difficult as it is, how to be her own sun.” – Shonda Rhimes Another of the many books I picked up at the beginning of the year when Audible ran the sale for books New Years Reads and another of the ones from that sale to absolutely, fantastically knock my socks off. Not that I should have been all that surprised given that I have a deep love for all of the Shonda writing that can reach my world (when I'm in a tv watching movie, that is, since this last year has been super lax in that.) I million outtaken seconds related to her show and an amazing story of her life and the effect of the word Yes on her life. There was laughing, wincing, nearly tearing up, and I walked away from it smiling. I will totally read any and all other things she writes, too. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

HTML:The instant New York Times bestseller from the creator of Grey's Anatomy and Scandal and executive producer of How to Get Away With Murder shares how saying YES changed her life. "As fun to read as Rhimes's TV series are to watch" (Los Angeles Times). She's the creator and producer of some of the most groundbreaking and audacious shows on television today. Her iconic characters live boldly and speak their minds. So who would suspect that Shonda Rhimes is an introvert? That she hired a publicist so she could avoid public appearances? That she suffered panic attacks before media interviews? With three children at home and three hit television shows, it was easy for Shonda to say she was simply too busy. But in truth, she was also afraid. And then, over Thanksgiving dinner, her sister muttered something that was both a wake up and a call to arms: You never say yes to anything. Shonda knew she had to embrace the challenge: for one year, she would say YES to everything that scared her. This poignant, intimate, and hilarious memoir explores Shonda's life before her Year of Yes??from her nerdy, book-loving childhood to her devotion to creating television characters who reflected the world she saw around her. The book chronicles her life after her Year of Yes had begun??when Shonda forced herself out of the house and onto the stage; when she learned to explore, empower, applaud, and love her truest self. Yes. "Honest, raw, and revelatory" (The Washington Post), this wildly candid and compulsively readable book reveals how the mega talented Shonda Rhimes finally achieved badassery worthy of a Shondaland character. Best of all, she "can help motivate even the most determined homebody to get out and try something new" (Chicago Tribune Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
