un intreccio ben congeniato intorno alle insoddisfazioni professionali di un'insegnante di lettere delusa dalla vita scolastica. Elementi di psicologia femminile alle prese con le crisi degli anta ma senza scadere del banale. Storia in definitiva che si legge benissimo e che avvince , ambientata in una Torino dipinta con pennellate precise e colorite. ( )

Chi racconta (perlopiù in prima persona) questa storia è una 'profia', un'ironica, brillante (forse troppo brillante per trovarsi a suo agio a scuola) professoressa quarantenne, con una normale, simpatica famiglia composta da una ragazzina mediamente rompiscatole, da un umorale cane bassotto, da una nonna catastrofica e da un marito mediamente polemico verso le scarse virtù casalinghe di una donna che lavora fuori casa ed è quindi incapace di servire piatti più elaborati della famigerata "fettina alla professoressa". La nostra profia è dunque una donna informata, curiosa, leggermente frustrata, a volte è irritabile e tignosa, e nei momenti di depressione beve un po' troppi Puntemes. Quando a scuola si presenta un'insegnante nuova, la bionda, bella, distinta Bianca De Lenchantin, elegante al punto da potersi permettere di sfidare il rischio della volgarità sfoggiando un "complicato tatuaggio multicolore", nessuna collega sembra disposta a trovarla simpatica. Solo quando Bianca De Lenchantin finisce misteriosamente ammazzata le cose cambiano... perché quelle caratteristiche di intelligenza, di tenacia, di acume e di ostinazione che fanno di una donna colta e sensibile una tipica profia, una volta messe al servizio dell'indagine poliziesca riusciranno - ben più dell'insegnamento e della sua inseparabile e avvilente routine burocratica, qui magistralmente tratteggiata nei suoi aspetti più assurdi - a valorizzare e a promuovere le potenzialità inespresse della nostra protagonista...Un romanzo così vivace, così ricco d'ironia e di eleganza, così pieno di personaggi che conosciamo, di situazioni e di mondi che ci sono familiari, di sentimenti negativi per i quali proviamo vergogna ma anche di accensioni affettuose che riempiono di senso la vita e delle quali non ci credevamo più capaci. ( )
